Have you ever heard about the World Car Free day? Do you know why this global initiative is celebrated in 40 countries and over 1,500 cities? Read this post and get to know more about it:
” The Car Free Day is an international event celebrated every September 22 in which people are encouraged to get around without cars and instead ride a train, bus, bicycle, carpool, vanpool, subway, or walk (…) It was first celebrated in the 1970s during the oil crisis
We all know about the dangers of too much pollution to our environment, yet every day we get in our cars and make the situation worse.(…) Cars blight our environment with discarded parts such as batteries and tyres, oil leaks and then eventually the carcass of the car when it is no longer fit for use (…)
Imagine a day when there is no traffic noise, everyone is car free and you can hear the birds sing! With the common goal of reducing the number of cars on the streets, the benefit to greater society is a day with less traffic congestion, a greener environment and reduced gasoline demand”
