A- A A+

How about planting your own salad? Here are some tips for slow-food lovers who plant vegetables during winter:

SPINACH

Spinach is a resistant plant, but it needs protection. So grow it under a cover.

CARROTS

Cold temperatures stimulate sugar accumulation in carrots. It acts as a natural antifreeze that protects the roots from frost damage.

LETTUCE

In general, tolerant varieties to heat and drought are also resistant to cold.  Baby plants are generally more tolerant to cold than mature plants.
